On March 27, 2020, the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act was signed into law. The CARES includes $350 billion in small business loans including support for our support for our sole proprietors, independent contractors and gig economy workers, $250 billion in unemployment insurance benefits, $500 billion in loans for distressed companies, $150 billion in direct aid for the health care system and providers on the front line of the fight against the Coronavirus, and $250 billion for direct payments to individuals and families.

COVID-19 Essential Services & Social Distancing

Governor Charlie Baker issued an emergency order requiring all businesses and organizations that do not provide “COVID-19 Essential Services” to close their physical workplaces and facilities to workers, customers and the public as of Tuesday, March 24th at noon until Tuesday, April 7th at noon. This order was then extended to May 4th. These businesses are encouraged to continue operations remotely.
