Mayor Sarno and HHS Commissioner Caulton-Harris Announce that Johnson & Johnson Vaccination Appointments Available at Greenleaf Community Center

Springfield, MA – Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Health and Human Services (HHS) Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris announced today that the City of Springfield is offering Johnson & Johnson vaccination appointments on Friday, April 30, 2021 at the Greenleaf/Clodo Concepcion Community Center.  Residents interested in registering for their vaccination appointment can do so at the City’s website at and click on the “Schedule Your COVID-19 Vaccine Appointment”.

The vaccination site at the Greenleaf/Clodo Concepcion Community continues Mayor Sarno and HHS Commissioner Caulton-Harris’s commitment to standing up neighborhood vaccination sites strategically for our residents.

Mayor Sarno stated, “These neighborhood vaccination sites continue my administration’s commitment to making the COVID-19 vaccine as readily available to our residents as possible.  I want to thank and commend the unyielding and dedicated efforts of our Health and Human Services Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris and her team.  Helen and her staff have been non-stop advocates for our residents, especially for our most vulnerable and underserved populations.”

HHS Commissioner Caulton-Harris added, “To continue to successfully mitigate the community spread of this COVID-19 Coronavirus it is critical that we work collaboratively to meet the public health needs of our residents, especially those who historically have been underserved and marginalized.  Standing up these neighborhood vaccination sites has been a strategic initiative to get the vaccine out into our community.  These neighborhood vaccination sites are key to get shots into arms and to reach our residents who may not be able to travel to the mass vaccination site at the Eastfield Mall.”

The Johnson & Johnson’s “Janssen” COVID-19 vaccine is a one (1) shot vaccine.  The CDC and the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has updated their recommended use of the Johnson & Johnson’s “Janssen” COVID-19 vaccine as of April 25, 2021.  The FDA now recommend use of the “J&J Janssen” vaccine after a temporary pause.  Residents who have any questions or concerns should contact their primary care physician (PCP) or doctor.  For more information on the recommendations from the CDC on the “J&J Janssen” vaccine and the other COVID-19 vaccines please visit the CDC website at
