SPRINGFIELD-Nancy Desmarais, owner of Quilter’s Corner in Chicopee, Mass., has been hard at work donating her time and talents to sew hundreds of face masks to support local hospitals and organizations in need of protective equipment. Nancy has already made over 300 face masks, with scheduled deliveries to local hospitals including Holyoke Visiting Nurse Association, Hospice Life Care; Mercy Medical Center; and Cooley Dickinson Hospital. She has also provided these for seniors shopping at local grocery stores.

Each mask takes approximately 15 minutes to make including the measuring, cutting, ironing and sewing. Nancy is averaging about 50 masks per day including adult and child sizes. Her husband Gary then packages each one in preparation for delivery.

Nancy leverages her Facebook community to source donated materials, as well as solicit volunteers to help with delivery service. Nancy’s sister Lynn Cronkright has been essential is providing support for the operation.
