Storrowton Village Museum Resumes Tours For Children and Adults

MUSEUM & STEAM TOURSTuesdays to Fridays at 11am & 3pm

General museum tours focus on 18th and 19th New England history as well as the life and work of museum founder Helen O. Storrow. In addition to general museum tours happening Tuesdays through Fridays at 11am, Storrowton will offer a 3pm tour focused entirely on science, technology, engineering, art and math. Additional STEAM tours available at 1pm Tuesdays – Fridays during school vacation weeks in February and April. “We wanted to create an afterschool experience for kids, especially those who are learning remotely or homeschooled, and are looking for a way to get out of the house and take a break from screens,” said Jessica K. Fontaine, Director of Storrowton Village Museum.

STEAM tours will provide an opportunity to share New England history through the lens of other disciplines and fields that people don’t often connect with history museums. This tour aims to bridge the early days of American industrialization and the fast-paced, tech-heavy world that we live in now. Visitors will learn about innovations used in each of the unique buildings in the museum and engage in three hands-on activities throughout the tour. Activities vary by season and availability of supplies. Examples of activities include making mini catapults, sun prints, kaleidoscopes, drop spindles, beeswax candles, paper corn husk dolls, harmonicas, sundials, and more! The tour is geared toward ages 6-12 but all ages are welcome to learn.

General Museum Tours are $8 per person; STEAM Tours are $12 per person with a discounted rate of $6 for parents/chaperones; parent/chaperone admission does not include activities. Parent/chaperone rate is only valid along with a minimum of one (1) STEAM Tour Admission at the $12 rate. There is no charge for children under 6 for General Museum and STEAM Tours. Children must be accompanied by an adult for all tours. Tickets must be purchased by 4pm the day prior at www.StorrowtonVillage.com/tickets

The Storrowton Village Gift Shop has been redesigned and features a wide variety of gifts for all occasions and handmade items from the Blacksmith Shop. The Gift Shop is open during all tours.
