Springfield JCC to Host FREE Day at the J on June 16

SPRINGFIELD, MA (June 6, 2022) – The Springfield Jewish Community Center is opening its doors on Thursday, June 16, free for everyone and punctuated by a celebration from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. Visitors can enjoy a free massage, climb a rock wall, take a pop-up fitness class, enjoy snacks, swimming, saunas, local vendors, and more!

To give parents ample opportunity to enjoy some private time at the gym or in one of the pop-up fitness classes, the J’s Youth Recreation team will facilitate activities for children 5+ so that the whole family can enjoy everything the J has to offer! Fitness instructors from the Springfield JCC and Mandell JCC of Greater Hartford will teach additional, exclusive pop-up fitness classes.

“Everyone is looking for a chance to enjoy themselves this spring – and we wanted to share what we have to offer with the community,” said Seth Stutman, the J’s Membership and Marketing Director.  “This event gives everyone an understanding of all of the different opportunities we have at the J, and it also gives our members some unique opportunities.”

From 5:30 AM – 12:00 PM and then again from 3:00 – 8:00 PM, participants will get FREE access to the J all day long, and the ability to utilize the J’s fitness center, swimming pool, group exercise classes, steam room, sauna, pickleball courts, and more. The J is closed from 12:00 – 3:00 PM.

Additionally, the J is announcing the rollout of JPerks, a benefits program where Springfield JCC members receive special offers and discounts at dozens of local businesses. “JPerks is another part of what makes membership at the J so special,” said Stutman. “We’re much more than a fitness center, a summer camp, or an Early Learning Center: we’re truly a community center.”

“We engage thousands of individuals through our year-round programming for family members of all ages, but we’re always looking for opportunities to further connect with our community,” said Deb Krivoy, the J’s COO. “Everyone is encouraged to join us for a day of free family fun, learn about our diverse offerings, and make connections that strengthen their family and community.”
