Mercedes Maskalik Named Assistant Vice President for Marketing and Communication at Western New England University

SPRINGFIELD, MA (09/07/2021) Mercedes Maskalik, formerly the Director of Marketing at CUE, Inc., a membership and professional development non-profit organization, has been appointed Assistant Vice President for Marketing and Communication at Western New England University. Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing Bryan Gross announced the appointment, citing Maskalik’s high degree of professionalism, technical skill, and expertise.

“We conducted a national search and had hundreds of highly qualified applicants. Mercedes really stood out, not only because of her knowledge and skill, but her positive attitude and energy over the campus community. As the University continues to grow, we feel Mercedes has the exact experience that will help us continue to thrive,” said Gross.

As Assistant Vice President for Marketing and Communication, Maskalik will oversee the University’s Division of Marketing and External Affairs whose mission and purpose are to broadly and creatively share the story of Western New England University regionally, nationally, and internationally.

In her previous position as Director of Marketing at CUE, Maskalik was responsible for the development, coordination, and management of all marketing and communications efforts to promote the CUE brand, the professional learning community, and the professional learning events. Maskalik received her MS in Organizational Communications from Central Connecticut State University and a BA in English from Southern Connecticut State University. An active member of a number of international associations, Maskalik’s professional affiliations include the American Marketing Association, the Public Relations Society of America, and the European Association of Communications Directors (EACD). She is the co-author of Social Marketing Environmental Issues, a theoretically-grounded text on social marketing strategies for influencing environmental behaviors.

Maskalik resides in Simsbury, CT, with her husband Alex and daughter Svetlana. The appointment is effective immediately.
