MCLA and HVCC Sign Environmental Studies Articulation Agreement

NORTH ADAMS, MASS. —Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) and Hudson Valley Community College have signed a new articulation agreement. This new agreement will allow Hudson Valley students who earn their associate degree in environmental science to seamlessly transfer to MCLA’s bachelor’s degree program in environmental studies with a concentration in environmental science or environmental sustainability.

Students who complete Hudson Valley’s associate degree program will be able to enter MCLA as juniors, and MCLA will provide student support services to these new transfer students. Qualifying Hudson Valley students must graduate with at least a 2.0 grade point average.

“MCLA’s Environmental Studies Department is excited to provide this path for Hudson Valley students to join our close-knit, dynamic community of students and faculty,” said Professor Elena Traister, chair of MCLA’s Environmental Studies Department. “Hudson Valley’s program is well-aligned with our own, and students will be able to engage immediately with us in our research and community-engaged efforts addressing today’s environmental challenges.”

“We are so pleased to offer another transfer opportunity to our students pursuing Environmental Science at Hudson Valley,” said Biology, Chemistry and Physics Department Chair Peter Schaefer. “The large majority of our students are looking for a seamless way to move from an associate degree and finish their bachelor’s degree in just two more years. MCLA has given us another way to do just that.”
