May Presidents Message

Good morning,

I am happy to announce that we will hold our Annual Meeting on June 12th from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. This important event, hosted by MGM-Springfield, promises to be a full evening where we hold our annual election for this year’s board, reflect on our collective achievements, chart our course for the future, and celebrate the graduates of our 2024 Leadership Institute. Additionally, I am proud to announce that we will recognize Sister Mary Caritas as our Richard J. Moriarty Citizen of The Year!

Sister Mary Caritas Geary, SP, was a registered nurse when she entered the Sisters of Providence from St. Michael’s Parish, Springfield. She has dedicated over 75 years to healthcare and civic service and, at 101, still serves as the Con

gregational Vice President. Please join us as we celebrate her important impact on our region.

It’s been a busy month.  I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to everyone who joined us for the April Rise & Shine event, where we heard from Excel Dryer and Millennium Press at How-It’s-Made in Western Mass. Also, in April, we had our 2024 Mayor’s Forum, featuring a discussion with seven of our local mayors on important issues and their visions for the future of their communities. It was truly enlightening to gain firsthand insights into their perspectives, and we are grateful for their participation. A special thank you goes to our emcee, Dave Madsen, whose insightful questions contributed greatly to the event.

Let’s not forget about Fire and Ice, which happened last Thursday, May 23rd! Thank you to everyone who came and indulged in hand-crafted cocktails paired with carefully selected food pairings by the talented chefs at the Marriott. I thank our eight cocktail creators for their creativity and the fifteen non-profits that attended and shared information on their organizations.  Our attendance doubled from last year, and I’m thankful to everyone who attended.

As we navigate these events and beyond, let us continue to forge connections, inspire change, and drive progress together. Your support and enthusiasm fuel our endeavors, and we are profoundly grateful for that.

With warm regards,

Diana
