Freedom Credit Union matching donations on ‘Giving Tuesday’ for the Pioneer Valley USO
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – During the month of November, Freedom Credit Union is collecting cash donations at all its branches throughout western Massachusetts to benefit the Pioneer Valley USOlocated at Westover ARB in Chicopee. As an added bonus, the credit union has pledged to match total online donations up to $2,500 made on Giving Tuesday, November 30. Donations can be made at https://gofund.me/d4a61031
“As we enter the holiday season, our thoughts turn to the members of our military, the brave men and women who give so much to protect and defend our nation,” said Freedom Credit Union President Glenn Welch. “While they face challenges all year round, time away from their families is often the most difficult during the holiday season. The USO helps to ease this difficulty by helping to keep our military connected to family, home and country during their service to our nation. They also provide help and resources to their family members here at home.”
Westover ARB in Chicopee is the largest air reserve base in the nation and home to about 5,500 military service members and their families. There, the Pioneer Valley USO works to provide the best programs and services to service members and their families. This includes entertainment and events, a food pantry, transition programs, holiday celebrations and more.
“Many of our members and staff have served or currently serve in the U.S. military, or have family and friends who do, which makes this cause near and dear to all our hearts,” said Welch. “We hope everyone will join us in supporting those who keep us safe and their families, especially during the holidays when time away from family is most keenly felt.
