SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – During the month of September, Freedom Credit Union is collecting cash donations at all its branches throughout western Massachusetts to benefit The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s® and their mission to raise funds and awareness for a breakthrough in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease and all other forms of dementia.
“Alzheimer’s is a debilitating disease affecting more than 6 million people in the United States, killing more people than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined,” said Freedom Credit Union President Glenn Welch. “So many of our members and staff have been affected by this devastating disease and we are happy to help by raising funds and awareness.”
Through Thursday, September 30, Freedom Credit Union employees and members, as well as the community at large, are invited to make monetary donations at any Freedom branch.
Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s® is the world’s largest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. This inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to join the fight against the disease.
“Not only will we be raising funds this month, but we are also putting together a team to participate in one of the walks on Sunday, September 26 at Holyoke Community College,” added Welch. “We are proud to support causes that affect our community, and hope others will join us.”
