City of Springfield Announces Splash Pads are Open for the Summer

Springfield, MA – Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Executive Director of Parks, Buildings and Recreation Management (PBRM) Patrick Sullivan announced today that the City of Springfield’s public splash pads are open and available for use beginning today, Thursday, June 23, 2022.

Splash pads are activated at the following locations:

  • Adams Park
  • Barrows Park
  • Calhoun Park
  • Emerson Wight Park
  • Emily Bill Park
  • Forest Park
  • Hubbard Park
  • Jaime Ulloa Park
  • Magazine Park
  • Marshal Roy Park
  • Mary Troy Park
  • Myrtle Street Park
  • Nathan Bill Park
  • Rebecca Johnson Park
  • Riverfront Park
  • Ruth Elizabeth Park
  • Van Horn Park
  • Walsh Park
  • Yollie Nahorniak Park

Mayor Sarno stated, “Summer is upon us and splash pads are activated and ready for our children and families to enjoy this summer. I want to thank PBRM Director Patrick Sullivan and his team for their efforts in preparing our park facilities for the many great programs we have this summer. From our splash pads and aquatics programs to our Concerts and Movies in the Park – we hope residents will take advantage and have some summer fun!”

PBRM Director Sullivan stated, “We are very proud of our beautiful parks and love to see families utilizing splash pads and pools during the summer. I am forever grateful to our dedicated Parks staff who make these programs possible. Make sure to check our website for information about our Summer Concerts in the Park, Movies in the Park, our Summer Aquatics Program, and other summer activities. Wishing everyone a wonderful, safe, and healthy summer.”

As a reminder, the city’s Summer Aquatics season begins on Friday, July 1st and ends Saturday, August 13th.  City residents will have an opportunity to swim all summer-long for free at Forest Park Pool. The pool will be open every day of the week from 11:00am – 6:30pm. All pool users must have a valid pool pass. Please note, no pool pass or identification is required for use of splash pads. Pool passes are free and if you have access to a computer, you can go to to register for a pass. No computer access? The Aquatics team will also be issuing pool passes everyday this summer at Cyr Arena, right next to Forest Park Pool, from 10:00am – 6:00pm. If you do not have access to a computer, then simply come to Forest Park, and we will register you and your family for your pool pass. Please be aware that our Aquatics team is working to accommodate the entire city, so waiting lines might be cut early to ensure that they finish pool pass registration on time each day.  For Aquatics related questions please call the Aquatics Director at (413) 787-6298.
