BHN Establishes Partnership for Information Technology Services
HOLYOKE, MA 1/19/2021 – Recognizing a need for greater digital expertise and capacity to support a successful and growing enterprise, Behavioral Health Network (BHN) has turned to one of the nation’s only healthcare-centric managed service providers to manage its extensive information technology operation. Holyoke Massachusetts-based baytechIT (bIT) has been chosen to run IT services for the enterprise. BHN serves over 40,000 individuals every year at 40 locations across Western Massachusetts, and employs over 2,400 people.
“BHN was being held back by technical debt and recognized that existing staff could not provide essential support while also seeking to advance key projects and initiatives,” commented baytechIT President Patrick Streck. “They needed access to expertise and resources in increments and surges – not a fulltime role all the time. We give them that flexibility.” All seven BHN IT employees have joined baytechIT and will continue to provide services to the organization.
“In fairness to our staff, the opportunity for their professional development and growth was limited if not capped – they had to be generalists to cover everything and could not become expert in any specialty,” added BHN CEO Steve Winn. “This ceiling was low and not going to move. Those same individuals now have the opportunity to pursue specialization and higher levels of expertise, while we benefit from the dramatic advances in healthcare IT technology.”
BHN employees will access baytechIT’s New England-based call center/help desk as well as its expanding desktop support field services staff. The organization will also utilize the expertise of bIT’s sister company VertitechIT which will provide engineering services for several new technology initiatives. Another sister company, Nectar Strategic Consulting, is advising on clinical workflow and process improvement.
In addition to Behavioral Health Network, baytechIT is the exclusive managed services provider to Baystate Health and more than 150 medical practices, clinics, and non-profit organizations.
