Leadership Institute Class of 2019
The Springfield Regional Chamber is now accepting applications for the 2020 class of its Leadership Institute. The Springfield Regional Chamber Leadership Institute focuses on developing core management and leadership skills for increasing personal and organizational effectiveness. This practical and applied program equips attendees with the knowledge and skills to take their leadership to the next level as well as expanding their personal and professional networks.
A series of workshops, facilitated by Western New England University faculty, will be held on six Thursdays from 1-4:30 p.m. at the TD Bank Conference Center, 1441 Main Street in Springfield, beginning February 27 and running until May 28. A graduation ceremony will be held at the Chamber’s Annual Meeting and Celebration on June 11.
The Leadership Institution is directed by Interim Dean of the College of Business Sharianne Walker and Melissa J. Knott, associate professor.
Sessions will focus on managerial leadership, emotional intelligence and self-awareness, powerful communication, building high performance teams, and leveraging conflict. Participants will actively explore best practices of leaders; analyze their own leadership, learning and problem solving styles; and experience the synergies that result from high performing teams. The emphasis will be on experiential activities that provide opportunities to identify, develop, and refine skill sets for effective leadership. Participants will have the opportunity to apply and extend their learning through a practice-based team project. The program is designed for aspiring managers, new managers and professional interested in increasing their effectiveness and/or expanding their impact within or beyond their current role.
Matt Maguire, retail market manager for TD Bank, spoke about the benefits of the Springfield Leadership Institute at the November 6 Rise & Shine Business Breakfast. “One of the reasons we have some of the best leaders in western Mass is because we send people to Leadership – year after year. The program includes six wonderful workshops that will get people to the next level. Think about the one person at work that maybe you mentor or lead who is ready for the next level. That’s the person you want to send to Leadership.”
Upon successful completion of Leadership 2020, participants will be eligible to enroll in a free graduate course offered through the College of Business at Western New England University (subject to certain requirements). Applications must be received by February 13, 2020. Tuition is $885 per participant and includes a day trip to Beacon Hill and a graduation dinner.
